Aboubacar Kouyate is a master drummer and percussionist from Guinea, West Africa, where he was musical director and lead drummer for Mirveilles de Guinea, the premiere ballet company in Guinea. He moved to the United States in 1999 and has performed throughout the country at such venues as Central Park Summerstage, Radio City Music Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. He has recorded with artists such as Stevie Wonder and does session work for movie soundtracks. Most recently his djembe playing can be heard on the score for the Black Panther.
